TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW for OH BOY! A TRIBUTE TO BUDDY HOLLY coming to The Clayton on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 12th, at 7:30 PM. This is the first live concert at The Clayton in over 35 years and proceeds will help bring us closer to our ...goal of new digital projection in 2013. Tickets are $20.00 and are now available at the theatre during regular movie show times, OR at The Town Barber Shop next to the theatre, Tuesday thru Friday, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
There will be FREE POPCORN for all who come dressed in their favorite '50's outfit the night of the concert. So, dig out those poodle skirts, sweater sets and saddle shoes and treat mom to a trip down memory lane at The Clayton!
Doors open at 6:30 PM.....Be there or be square!
St. Patrick's Beef and Brew Splash
The “Save the Clayton Theatre” St. Patrick’s Beef & Brew held on Friday, March 15th at The Dagsboro Fire Hall was a HUGE success. Almost 350 friends, neighbors and theatre supporters turned out for an evening of great food, auctions, music and fun!
D.J., Brian K. Hall from CAT Country 97.5, kicked the evening off and kept it flowing by announcing events as t...hey came up and playing great music for dining and dancing! Thank you Brian, for a super job!
Also, thanks to our Auctioneer for the evening, Mr. Robert Kauffman. He did an outstanding job moving the bidding along and keeping everyone on track for the item at hand. Thank you Robert, it was fun to watch you in action!
The auctions and all of the fun, and funds, they provided would not have been possible had it not been for the donation of certificates and merchandise from businesses all around the area. Thank you, to all of those who donated to, and collected donations for, our event which helped to make the evening a huge success. In return, we encourage everyone to support those businesses that have generously supported us. The names of all those involved can be seen at the theatre and soon to be on our website as our “Supporting Cast.”
Our heartfelt thanks goes out in a big way to all of the men and women of The Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary. They worked tirelessly for weeks, planning, organizing, selling tickets, collecting auction items, cooking, cleaning, setting up, overseeing and monitoring the event and then breaking it all down. Their efforts were amazing and we can never thank them enough for all they have done.
Special thanks to Diane Carey of The Dagsboro Fire Department. Back in December, when I first wrote on our Facebook page that The Clayton was in danger of closing due to changes in the industry, she was on my doorstep wanting to know what she and the fire department could do to help. Diane organized every aspect of the “Beef & Brew,” kept everyone on track and gave me tons of pointers when it comes to organizing events such as this. Not only has she been a rock throughout the process, it turns out that she can also bake a magnificent cake! Thanks to her beautiful (and delicious) Clayton Theatre replica, we raised a total of $1100.00 for it during the live auction! Thank you Diane for all of your help……and please get some sleep!
And finally, thank you to all of those throughout the Lower Sussex community who have supported and contributed to our fundraising efforts. All of the event planning in the world would have no value if in the end, no one came.
The “Beef & Brew” raised over $10,000.00 for The Clayton which now brings our total to just over $20,000.00, and we are a quarter of the way to our goal! We are so blessed to be part of such a supportive community and are working hard to keep and preserve The Clayton Theatre as an icon to our past. The continued support from the people of Dagsboro, the surrounding communities and all of Lower Sussex has been an inspiration and because of all of you The Clayton will continue to be part of the community for generations to come.
